this scene in “Phantom Traveler” in Season 1 , makes me sad every time i watch it. the man who is their father’s friend tells dean that he got his phone number through John’s voice mail on his phone. Sam tells dean it’s impossible , because he tried to call him but it says it’s out of service. so Dean calls him and John’s voice says : if it’s an emergency call my Son Dean , he can help.
and then Sam tears up and gets into the car angrily and sadly…it is very confusing though , because it might be that Sam was sad because his dad didn’t mention him in the voice mail or he was sad because he tried to call his dad but he didn’t return his calls….both of these possibilities are so sad though , it showed how broken their relationship was…and it never got fixed any how.
